The Crucial Mistake Players Make on the Break
Переглядів 239 тис.4 місяці тому
If you're breaking, it's most important to hit the center of the cue ball. This is one key component of generating speed and action on the rack. If you're hitting with too much power, you will have inaccuracies and hit the cue ball off-center. This will prevent the cue from transferring all the energy to the cue ball. The cue ball will not only have less energy but also deflect off the line, du...

    the turning point was when you tried to slam the 2ball bank in at 36:00 you had 2 balls to hide the cue ball behind and snooker him (5 & 8) That's when I knew you probably wouldn't win. Still a good showing though. I could probably keep up with most of the guys but have too many injuries now with my back and hip problem and not enough money saved I won a few 700 & under fargo tournaments. Here in Florida What is your fargo rating? Where was this tournament and how much was the entry fee? Is it matchroom pool that is the "pro tour" pretty much? I also wonder about J flowers cues. Do they sponsor you. I feel that most of their "carbon fiber" shafts are just filled with styrofoam. I haven't found a carbon fiber brand that I like. I prefer old custom cues with maple shafts. Wood to wood joint.

    The thing I found most difficult about these shots is you have to adjust your tip position according to how close the balls are to the rail. Balls that are frozen to the rail are the hardest.

    Why do some people hit the cue ball off a piece of fabric when breaking? Is this legal in tournament play?

      It's done to not damage the cloth of the table. They also do it for jump shots. This is not common in tournaments (have never seen it).

      Remove a couple of balls, for example all the stripes. Or give yourself three attempts to clear all the balls, and start from ball in hand on the shot you've missed.

  • @kenhall3851
    @kenhall3851 День тому

    Great video once again. I recommend you to all of my friends trying to learn the game properly. Another important NOTE: when using reverse or backspin, it is important to use a firmer stroke so that the cue ball does not turn to forward roll after hitting the rail or it will miss (it should feel akin to hitting a stop oe stun shot). When moving 1 diamond down table, requiring 1 tip of reverse, also apply draw to the stun or stop stroke. The cue ball will banana curve back to the object ball, increasing your chance s of making it. Ass you stated any sort of top or bottom will also affect the shot. So I'd recommend aiming at 3 or 9 o'clock on the cue ball (along the horizontal axis of the cueball) when determining tip width for more consistency. Finally, players may have a differnt idea of what 1/2 tip and 1 tip means. 1/2 tip is actually 1 width of your shaft width from center ball. So 1 tip is actually 2 widths of your shaft from center ball. And it can be MEASURED! If you want to measure 1/2 tip, place your right or left edge of the cue stick at center (depending on which direction you are shooting). If you want to measure 1 tip, place the edge of your shaft at center, (example left edge when shooting toward the right), see where your right edge is and move your left edge again to to where the right edge was.. like using a ruler. If aiming with running spin, I'd recommend using what feels like a follow stroke (bot top but at the horizontal center. Same sort of stroke but not at a following positioning that make since). It allows the spin to take affect and avoids fighting against it by accidently applying some stun to the shot). On reverse spin shots, you want stun to prevent the cue ball from turning into follow. On running spin shots, you do not!! To avoid the ball from coming short. Allowing the spin to take affect.

    You’re only human, not a robot. I’m glad you left the error footage in, it makes it more “real life”. That power stroke on the 8 was amazing to get back down table. I wish I had that much power. It almost looks like to do a half stroke right before contact with that 8 ball. I think that creates more power in some instances.
